NZ Day 9 – Clifden Bridge to Te Anau

We continued north from our overnight stop, heading to Te Anau for a couple of days.
The first of 2 highlights of the 98km journey was the Clifden bridge, built nearly 130 years ago across what was then NZ's second largest river. It was one of the few non commercial signs to an attraction while on a "scenic route" that we have seen to date that encouraged us to check it out. Having said that, the drive at last started us going into the mountains and the scenery was changing from continuous farmland to the more rugged country.
The second highlight was the coffee we found at Manapouri - the coffee shop made a worth while cuppa, and had an interesting pie selection.
We rolled into Te Anau around 12, too early to go to van park so we headed to the I Site to see what we can get. We were always going to Milford Sound, and the tickets there were cheaper than getting them online so tomorrow it's off to the Sound...
A stroll around town had the mid Arvo temperature on the petrol station sign, and another classic car parking attempt by an NZer....
